Formed at the University of Texas in 2002, Chloë's Honey is one of the most exciting bands to come out of Austin. They produce an intense fusion of power, syncopation, melody, and raw emotion, mixed with influences ranging from rock and punk, to funk and trip-hop.
Guitarist Jim Shields allows his technical ability and love for sonic bombast to create an enormous and lush landscape of sound for the band. The rhythm section, comprised of drummer Danny Atkinson and bassist Richard Geffen, anchor the band with tight grooves, amazing fills, and an unbridled passion for the music. Singer Joel De La Garza's soulful voice and moving lyrics paint each song with a personal and intense emotion that broadens the horizon of each song.
After a year of playing shows throughout Texas to a growing fan base, Chloë's Honey is ready to release their debut album, Frequency Front, on their own Austin-based independent label Sleep-in Dreams Records. Produced by J.R. Taylor (Roscoe Beck, Tommy Taylor, element-9, Overlord), all 11 tracks on the album capture the live sound of the band, yet each is layered with enough emotion and color to reveal something different with each listen.
From ebb and flow anthems wave and silvershell, to crowd-jumping favorites stargirl and human, the band's energy and sound is catchy, yet laced with heart felt meaning and reason. Songs like treewish and bella prove that the delivery of the band's live show is extremely intense and should not be missed.
The first single off of the album, all in, best blends the emotional intensity and attention to songwriting that the band represents, melding power and feeling in a way often unheard of in a first effort. The video for all in, produced by Austin's Blue Shoes Productions, is in heavy rotation on the Austin Music Network. The band has also released all in to radio stations throughout the region.
